US Steel and Glunt Industries Agree to a Three-Year Service Agreement for Mon Valley Works-Irvin and Fairless Plant Coiler Mandrel Refurbishment

 

Warren, Ohio-Glunt Industries is proud to announce the award of a multi-year agreement to provide service to US Steel’s Mon Valley Works Irvin and Fairless Hill Plants. Glunt will be the supplier for total repair and refurbishment of all the facilities Finishing Mill Mandrels for three years effective July 1, 2020.

 

Glunt Industries will implement a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) program management strategy for all the assets related to the program for both facilities. From design to manufacture to customer service, the goal of this program, through Glunt’s expertise in design upgrades, modifications and manufacturing is to refurbish each mandrel to gain increased tonnages across each asset between maintenance rebuilds.

 

Joe Navarra, Glunt Plant Manager and Jim Heasley, Glunt’s Mandrel Division Manager will lead the efforts on the Operational responsibilities for the program for US Steel.

 

Through the combination of the FARO CMM inspection capabilities and SOLIDWORKS software modeling to provide accurate 3D Modeling data, Glunt can develop and manufacture an upgraded mandrel from the original OEM design. The design and material optimization provide a mandrel solution that adds component strength, reduces wear and result in a longer lasting mandrel asset to improve total campaign life which will result in a lower cost to the customer.
